Functional Nutrition in Narrabeen

Nutritional medicine follows a holistic approach to healing which takes into account the whole person—mind, body and spirit. Nutritionists address the underlying cause of health issues, not just the symptoms, and they acknowledge that what a person is experiencing is typically caused by a combination of factors.

Meet Our Clinical Nutritionist

Aimee Buchanan at Narrabeen Chiropractic is a qualified clinical nutritionist who provides nutritional advice to support and inspire the whole family. Her approach to nutrition is gentle, and she believes if you listen to your body and give it exactly what it needs, you can achieve great health. She has a passion for cooking and loves creating recipes that the whole family can enjoy. The recipes are nutritious, but the best part is that everything she makes is delicious and easy.

Aimee is passionate about teaching people how to make real whole foods taste amazing. Combining this passion with nutritional studies has allowed her to educate people on how to nourish the body and overcome illness, as well as how to eat foods that may prevent disease.

“My work is not prescription, but rather description. We need education far more than we need medication.” – Andrew W. Saul

Promoting health through personalised care, Aimee is trained to access and identify potential nutritional imbalances and assist you in achieving and maintaining optimal health. She will guide and support you in making the best decisions about what foods may enhance your health and suit your lifestyle.

Nutritionist vs Dietitian

Both nutritionists and dietitians have the same view—they want to help people achieve better health and wellbeing through food. Both practice evidence-based medicine, but they each follow different philosophies to achieve this.

Nutritional medicine uses a broader, whole-body approach to address the underlying cause of various conditions, while dieticians are mainly trained to give evidence-based dietary advice. Nutritionists mostly work in a private practice with other practitioners that share a similar outlook. Dieticians generally work with population health, hospitals and nursing homes.

We live in a time of rising preventable diseases, and there is a role for both nutritionists and dietitians to provide people a choice when choosing the right practitioner to help them reach their health goals.
